Be Happy

Is Striving For Happiness Worth It?

October 21, 20242 min read

I listened to Jay Shetty on the Calm app last week. He suggested that constantly striving for happiness could be the thing that causes anxiety and depression.

Can we be ok when we are not always happy? We are human beings with emotions and are built to have ups and downs naturally.

So is it OK to not be happy for a moment?

Yes! Give yourself some grace. Life is not all candy canes and unicorns.

It’s OK! Breathe…

There a times when I just feel down

I wake up feeling down

I have low energy

I can’t explain it

I just don’t feel like lifeing

I just don’t feel that great

I know I should be tackling my day

I know I should be crushing my goals

I should be going for it

I don’t feel like it

I don’t feel like reaching out to people

I don’t feel like doing all the things I need to do

It’s OK

I know it’s normal to feel like this sometimes

I know it’s not how I always feel

I know it’s just right now

I know I can take a pause and try to feel better

I do know that if I give myself some grace I’ll feel better

I do know it’s important to acknowledge how I’m feeling

I don’t want to ignore how I feel

But I can change the energy flow

I can change how the rest of my day will go

I can take a few deep breaths, I can pause

I can take a Joy break - I can go outside and breathe

I can breathe new energy into my day

I can feel it now

I am feeling better now

I am feeling lighter now

I am feeling more like myself now.

Yes…breathe in and breathe out….. It feels good now

I feel good now

I feel better now

I am OK
